Beatrice and Benedick have arrived on Broadway. Jamie Lloyd’s production of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, starring Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell, began preview performances at the Winter Garden Theatre on Saturday, October 31.

Official opening night is set for Thursday, November 19. The 10-week engagement is scheduled to play through Sunday, January 10, 2027.

Benedick and Beatrice

Hiddleston, a Tony nominee and Olivier winner, plays Benedick. Atwell, a three-time Olivier nominee, makes her Broadway debut as Beatrice. The pair first played the roles in Lloyd’s staging at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London, where Atwell won the Standard Theatre Award for Best Actress.

Hiddleston returns to Broadway after his Tony-nominated turn in Lloyd’s revival of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

The London Company

The full West End company has made the trip. Mara Huf plays Hero, Mika Onyx Johnson is Borachio, Gerald Kyd is Don Pedro, Forbes Masson is Leonato, Phillip Olagoke is Friar Francis, Mason Alexander Park is Margaret, James Phoon is Claudio and Tim Steed is Don John. Park is making a long-awaited Broadway debut.

Franklin Bongjio, Michael Iván Carrier, Beth Elliott, Marlon Alexander Vargas and Ed White have been announced as understudies.

The Creative Team

Lloyd sets the rivalry-turned-romance at a modern dance party, with plenty of pink props. Soutra Gilmour designs the set and costumes, with lighting by two-time Tony winner Jon Clark, sound design and music by Ben and Max Ringham, and choreography by Olivier winner Fabian Aloise.

The Jamie Lloyd Company produces the Broadway transfer.
