Broadway shows & tickets in October 2026

October is a natural invitation to choose something atmospheric, but a Halloween-season trip does not have to revolve around horror. Pick the tone you enjoy, from dark comedy to a warm musical, and plan the evening around it.

Read atmosphere and advisories together

A production's imagery can suggest suspense without telling you how intense the experience is. If you are considering a darker title, read its current content and effects guidance. Check whether it uses sudden sounds, immersive elements, or other features that matter to your group. Do not infer family suitability from a recognizable screen property or a seasonal theme.

Keep costume and party plans separate

If you are combining the theater with a Halloween event, check the venue's clothing, bag, and entry rules before choosing what to wear or carry. Plan enough time between the performance and the next appointment to leave the building and travel. A costume that works for an outdoor celebration may be awkward in a shared row, so think about comfort as well as appearance.

Use the season to try a different form

A fall visit can be a good excuse to explore a play or an Off-Broadway production alongside your main musical choice. Read about the actual staging and venue rather than expecting a particular style from the label. For a weekend trip, protect one show as the centerpiece and keep the surrounding plans flexible. A leisurely meal and a thoughtful performance can be a more memorable evening than several activities squeezed together.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

A few things worth knowing

Are there horror or suspense shows in October?

Check the current catalog and performance calendar. A seasonal guide does not guarantee a particular title is running.

Can I wear a Halloween costume to a show?

Check the specific venue's rules and choose something that does not obstruct other guests or create storage problems.

Are screen-based shows suitable for children?

Not automatically. Read the stage production's admission rules and content advisories separately from the film or television version.
