Billy Crystal’s autobiographical solo show 860 has extended its Broadway run at the Imperial Theatre. The production, which officially opened October 21, will now run through February 14, 2027. It was previously scheduled to end January 3, 2027, Playbill reported on October 27.
The new closing date adds six weeks to the run, according to Broadway.com.
How did Billy Crystal announce that 860 is extending?
Crystal shared the news himself during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, BroadwayWorld reported. In the interview, he talked about how losing his home to the Palisades wildfire led him to write 860, performing in front of his grandchildren on opening night, and having his home office built for the set.
What is 860 about, and why is it named for an address?
860 takes its title from the address of Crystal’s longtime California home, which was lost in the 2025 Palisades Fire. “860 was the address of the home we lost in the Palisades fires. We lived there for 46 years,” Crystal said in an earlier statement quoted by Playbill. “I invite you to come inside 860 and I’ll tell you all the funny and touching things that happened there, not only in my career but to our family. It’s a joyous and heartfelt visit, about how with the love of family and friends and your inner strength, you can get through tough times.”
In the show, Crystal reflects on his family and his career, revisiting “the memories and moments that mattered the most, and how the power of laughter can overcome the most difficult of times.” The production calls the show “a hilarious and intimate story about family, friendship, love, luck and loss,” according to Broadway.com.
How does 860 follow Billy Crystal’s 700 Sundays?
860 is not Crystal’s first autobiographical solo show on Broadway. He made his Broadway debut in 2004 with 700 Sundays, adapted from his memoir. That show centered on his relationship with his father, who died when Crystal was 15; the title refers to the 700 Sundays the two shared. 700 Sundays won Crystal a Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event and returned to Broadway for an encore run in 2013, Playbill notes.
He returned in 2022 with Mr. Saturday Night, a stage musical version of his 1992 film. Crystal wrote the book and reprised his screen role as comedian Buddy Young, Jr., with songs by Jason Robert Brown. The show brought Crystal his second and third Tony nominations, for his book and his leading performance.
Who is the creative team behind 860 on Broadway?
Tony nominee Scott Ellis directs 860. The show features original music and adaptations by Tony winner Marc Shaiman, scenic design by Tony winner Scott Pask, lighting design by Tony winner Jen Schriever, sound design by Tony nominee Dan Moses Schreier, and video design by Tony winner Hana S. Kim and Kylee Loera, according to BroadwayWorld. Davin De Santis is the production stage manager.
The producing team is led by Janice Crystal, James L. Nederlander, Larry Magid and Face Productions, Playbill reports.
What else is Billy Crystal known for beyond 860?
Beyond the stage, Crystal is known for the 1977 series Soap, his time on Saturday Night Live, and films including When Harry Met Sally..., City Slickers and Analyze This. He has hosted the Academy Awards nine times. Along with his Tony Award, his honors include six Emmy Awards and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, and he was named a Kennedy Center honoree in 2023.
